Evaporative Coolers

Applications
Ideal for providing comfort cooling – and a contented more productive workforce. The relatively large volumes of air handled by the units provide increased ventilation as well as cooling.

How They Work
The cooler is located outside. An internal fan draws atmospheric air into the unit. In doing so, air passes through the walls of the unit which comprise porous synthetic mats. The mats are kept wet by means of a water sump and distribution pump inside the unit.

As air passes through the mats evaporation of some of the water takes place – creating cooling due to absorption of latent heat. Depending on atmospheric conditions, this cooling can be significant eg 10 degrees C. The internal fan then discharges the cooled air into the building – either directly or through a ducted system.

Benefits
• Combined cooling and ventilation
• Significant lower capital cost than air conditioning plant
• Significant lower running cost than air conditioning plant
• Low maintenance

Range
Multi Fan supply an extensive range of coolers and accessories. The coolers are available as mobile units – providing direct cooling – with discharge rates of between 2,500 and 13,000 cu metres per hour. Fan motors range from 0.37 to 1.5 kW.

They are also available as larger static units – providing ducted air cooling – with discharge rates of between 2,500 and 63,000 cu metres per hour. Fan motors range from 0.37 to 18.5 kW.
Units can be supplied with bodies in stainless steel or polyamide.

Evaporative cooling can provide large volumes of air at typically 5 or 6 degrees below ambient. Capital, running and maintenance costs are significantly lower than air conditioning plant.
The diagram above shows the actual cooling performance that will be achieved at that particular set of air inlet conditions.
